Description

NGC 3293 is an open cluster in the Carina constellation, approx. 8,400 light years from the Sun. It consists of more than 100 stars, most of which are blue supergiants with some red supergiants.

The cluster is embedded in clouds of glowing gas and lanes of dust that form the much larger Eta Carina Nebula.
